Hallux Rigidus

Hallux RigidusĀ is a problem of the first metatarsophalangeal joint of the the foot in which there is no motion available. This causes significant alterations in the gait that can results in symptoms. As part of the treatment this motion needs to be restored. This can either be done by the use of a rocker on the shoe or a surgical spacer to allow some motion to occur at the joint.
