Pain on Top of the Foot is becoming an increasing frequent overuse injury in runners and other athlete. It occurs when the dorsiflexion loads on the forefoot are too high in those who run predominantly on the forefoot. The treatment for this problem is to raise the plantarflexion of the forefoot on the rearfoot to oppose those dorsiflexory forces that are creating the problem. This is done with heel raises, changing to a heel strike pattern and the use of foot orthotics.
