Plantar fasciitis is the most common orthopedic complaint in the foot. It is due to a strain of the plantar fascia which is a strong ligament that supports the arch of the foot. The most common symptom of plantar fasciitis is first step pain or post static dyskinesia. This is worse in the morning, but also occurs after rest. The main approach to treat plantar fasciitis is to use modalities that reduce the load in the tissue and aid the healing in the tissue. Strapping, stretching and foot orthotics are the most common first line approached for plantar fasciitis. There is plenty of published research on plantar fasciitis.
