The Ponseti method for clubfoot or talipes equino varus is now very widely used in clinical practice. The method uses genetle manipulation of the foot followed by plaster casting to hold the foot in its more corrected position. This is repeated 4-6 times or until the foot deformity has been corrected. The technique has been shown in a number of studies to be very successful. Some still do need to go onto surgical correction and they tend to be more rigid.
