Posterior Tibial Tendonitis is becoming an increasing common problem due to the trend to forefoot striking running forms. Posterior Tibial Tendonitis occurs as running this way increased the work that the posterior tibial muscle has to work. Those with a more medial subtalar joint axis are at greater risk for Posterior Tibial Tendonitis as the muscle has to work even harder in these people. The management of Posterior Tibial Tendonitis is to reduce the load in the muscles by the use of foot orthotic that inverts the foot, so the muscle does not have to work so hard. There are other strategies that can be used for posterior tibial tendonitis to help the tissues heal.
